A Second Chance: Building a Better Future Through Fatherhood
A success story from our Fatherhood classes is Joe. Joe came to us on probation for a DUI. Joe is a single parent trying to overcome his childhood trauma as well as his addiction to alcohol. He was a broken vessel looking for all his answers at the bottom of a bottle.
His childhood trauma was the root of a lot of bad choices, but with the help and guidance of our fatherhood advocate he has found sobriety, completed probation, and has donated clothes, toys, and his time to the program.
He is a great mentor and willing to engage in the Nurturing Parenting program at a moment’s notice. Joe is soon to be married with wonderful support from his fiancé and is a role model for other fatherhood participants. Joe has now also participated in other programs within Catholic Charities.
Joe's journey reminds us that with the right support, determination, and a willingness to give back, even the most challenging paths can lead to a brighter future.
