Marcos knew he wanted something different for his life.

After years of making choices he regretted and feeling held back by his past, he reached a point where he was ready to rebuild. He wanted to return to work, regain his confidence, and prove to himself that his past did not have to determine his future.

That opportunity came when he connected with Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado and the ReHire Program.

Through ReHire, Marcos received individualized support as he worked toward employment. Staff helped him take the process one step at a time, finding a job, rebuilding confidence, and beginning to believe in himself again.

“The ReHire Program gave me that chance. They helped me get back into the workforce and reminded me that my past does not have to define my future.”

Today, Marcos works at Pueblo Shelter/SafeSide Recovery, where his own experiences now help him connect with people who are working to change their lives.

His job has become more than employment. It has given him an opportunity to give back.

“Being part of that team makes me feel proud and gives me purpose. It feels good knowing I can give back and be there for others the way people were there for me.”

For Marcos, ReHire represented something powerful: a second chance.

The support he received helped him recognize that he still had skills, value, and something meaningful to contribute to his community.

“Every day I wake up knowing I am doing better and becoming the person I was meant to be.”

His story is a reminder that employment can be about much more than earning a paycheck. With the right support and opportunity, it can also become a pathway toward confidence, purpose, and a new beginning.
