Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)
A love of learning begins at home.
HIPPY is a kindergarten readiness program designed for preschool children ages 3, 4, and 5 before they enter kindergarten. This evidence-based home visiting program helps parents and legal guardians prepare their children for success in school and throughout life.
Using a structured curriculum, storybooks, and learning materials, HIPPY helps families support their child’s cognitive, literacy, social-emotional, and physical development. The program uses a peer-delivered home visitation model, with trained home visitors providing weekly one-on-one visits with parents or legal guardians of preschool-aged children. HIPPY also includes monthly group meetings that help families build connection and community.
HIPPY provides:
-
30 weekly lessons to help you teach your child
-
Weekly home visits with a trained home visitor
-
A structured curriculum designed to support kindergarten readiness
-
Children’s books and hands-on learning materials
-
Monthly group meetings for families
-
Support for parents and legal guardians as their child’s first teacher
Enrollment
The program runs from September through May, with open enrollment available as space allows.
