SafeCare Colorado
Your Partner in a Safe, Healthy Home
SafeCare Colorado is a free, voluntary parent support program for parents and caregivers of children from birth through age five. Families work one-on-one with a trained Parent Support Provider to build on the parenting skills they already have and create a safer, healthier, and more positive home environment.
Visits are generally offered once a week in the family’s home or another convenient location. Support is practical, personalized, and focused on each family’s needs and goals. Families may participate in one, two, or all three SafeCare focus areas.
Who We Serve
SafeCare serves parents and caregivers of children from birth through age five. The program is designed for families who would benefit from practical support with home safety, childhood health, parenting routines, and positive parent-child interactions.

Services are voluntary, family-centered, and personalized to each household’s strengths, concerns, routines, and goals.
Trained Parent Support Providers
Families work one-on-one with a trained Parent Support Provider who offers practical guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support. SafeCare providers receive specialized training and ongoing coaching to deliver the evidence-based SafeCare model with quality and consistency.
Program Focus Areas
Families may participate in one, two, or all three focus areas based on their needs and goals.

Home Safety
Learn how to identify and remove common household hazards, make your home safer for young children, and establish practical safety and childproofing routines.

Child Health
Learn how to recognize common childhood illnesses and injuries, provide appropriate care at home, and understand when additional medical care may be needed.

Parent-Child Interactions
Learn practical ways to create positive routines, respond to challenging behavior, and strengthen everyday interactions with your child.
Each focus area generally takes six to nine weeks to complete. Weekly visits typically last one to one-and-a-half hours.
Monthly Group Connections
Families enrolled in SafeCare can participate in monthly group connections designed to bring parents, caregivers, and children together. These gatherings may include family activities, parent education, opportunities to practice new skills, and time to connect with other families.
Group connections give families a welcoming space to learn, share experiences, build relationships, and enjoy meaningful activities with their children.
Enrollment
Enrollment is available throughout the year based on program capacity. Families may contact the SafeCare team to ask questions, learn more about the program, and begin the enrollment process.

Participation is voluntary and provided at no cost to families.
Where Services Are Provided
SafeCare currently serves families in Pueblo, Huerfano, Las Animas, Custer, and Fremont counties. Visits are provided in the family’s home or another convenient location agreed upon by the family and their Parent Support Provider.
