(PAT)
Support From the Start
Parents as Teachers is an evidence-based home visiting program that supports parents and caregivers as their child’s first and most important teacher. Through personalized visits, developmental guidance, screenings, and connections to family resources, the program helps families build strong, healthy foundations for their children.

Who We Serve
Parents as Teachers serves expectant parents and families with children from birth through age three. Services are personalized to each family’s needs, routines, strengths, and parenting goals.
What We Provide
Personalized Home Visits
Individual visits customized to each family’s needs, questions, routines, and goals.
Child Development Guidance
Information and support related to a child’s development, learning, behavior, and milestones.
Parenting Strategies
Practical guidance for everyday routines, family dynamics, and common parenting challenges.
Developmental Screenings
Screenings that help families identify developmental concerns early and connect with additional support when needed.
Parent-Child Connection
Activities and guidance that help caregivers strengthen relationships through everyday interactions.
Family Resource Connections
Connections to food, housing, healthcare, early intervention, mental health services, and other community supports.
Monthly Group Connections
Families enrolled in Parents as Teachers can participate in monthly group connections designed to bring parents, caregivers, and children together. These gatherings may include family activities, parent education, opportunities to practice new skills, and time to connect with other families.
Group connections give families a welcoming space to learn, share experiences, build relationships, and enjoy meaningful activities with their children.

In 2023, Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado completed the Parents as Teachers Quality Endorsement and Improvement Process and earned the highest designation: Blue Ribbon Affiliate status.
